By now all those attending should have received a personal email giving them full details of this celebration afternoon. I am, however, showing it below just to make sure everyone has seen it.
This email is to confirm that we are expecting you to join us at Grantham u3a’s 25th Anniversary Celebration. Here is some important information about the event.
Date Tuesday 18th August 2026
Venue Priory Ruskin Academy, Rushcliffe Road, Grantham NG31 8ED
Time 1.30pm until 4.30pm
The following groups will have static displays for you to browse in the Foyer and the Dining Room:
In the Foyer:
Photography, Crafts, Gardening and a general Archive display.
In the Dining Room:
Armchair Travel, French Discutons!, Local History, MOTO, Wednesday Walking, Writing Outdoors, Canasta, Rummikub, Books, Cakes and Bakes.
In the Hall from 2.00pm there will be a full programme of events including:
The Grantham u3a Timeline video (historical development and significant events)
The combined Groups’ video
live music, a play and a discussion – lots to look forward to!
At 4.00pm we will drink the Toast to Grantham u3a and the Ceremonial Cake will be cut. There will then be free time to browse the displays, eat cake and chat to friends before the close at 4.30pm. If the weather is good we will be able to enjoy our cake and fizz in the courtyard garden.
When you arrive you will be given a Souvenir Programme which will include all the details with timings of the various events.
There is ample car parking at the school. We can use the whole space including the staff car park since no staff will be in.
Toilets in the school are marked male and female but as they are all single cubicle we can treat them as unisex toilets.
The Gardening Group will be giving away plants in exchange for a donation to St. Barnabas Hospice so, if you may be tempted, please bring plenty of cash and a carrier bag as no bags will be provided.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Celebration.
Best wishes
John Down
